keeping the menu up-state

Post by kweku » Wed Feb 25, 2009 2:04 pm

hi,

i would like to know how i can keep the Top menu item selected even when i select a sub-menu item from that category.

on this page: http://insight-design-group.com/CMSimpl ... ng_started

you can see i have selected the page 'getting started' which is the sub-menu item from the category ' About CMSimple SE & stuff '

how do i keep ' About CMSimple SE & stuff ' highlighted or ANY top menu item even if i select a sub-menu item under those top level items.

hope this makes sense to someone out there.... :)

In your CMSimple configurations there is an input field asigned as "menu_sdoc:". Add the word "parent" to the input field and save. That's it. It is described in: http://www.cmsimple.com/?Installer%27s_ ... figuration.

Then you may have made a mistake. Have you pushed the SAVE button? ;)
Which CMSimple version do you use? I don't know very much about the SE version of CMSimple-styles.com. Your HTML source code still says:

Code: Select all

li class="docs"
which means, that something is not working. It should say:

Code: Select all

li class="sdocs"
if I press the link you quoted above.
Have you read the notes at http://www.cmsimple.com/?Installer%27s_ ... figuration, which I mentioned above????

Should work, i changed nothing in my SE version about this behavior. Maybe try my advanced toc script it also has this feature built in.

guys im a bit confused...

ive loaded a test from scratch: http://insight-design-group.com/cmsimple32

i have also changed the sdoc to parent in this on too but still it is not working at all? when i select say a sub-menu item i wanted the TOP menu item to be selected as well as the sub-menu item but nothing has changed?

what am i missing. perhaps im not explaining myself clearly enough. This is a standard version of cmsimple.....

here: http://insight-design-group.com/cmsimpl ... H3_heading
you can see the H3 heading is highlighted, fine, but i also wanted the parent item ( How to create pages ) to also stay selected.

very frustrating :?

by the way, password is test to this site.

ill probably get a better template with a horizontal drop down menu - to better illustrate the issue.

sorry guys i can confirm its now working, just like you said it would....

i guess i have to figure out what exactly has changed with my installation of SE and the template im using - this is going to be a real headache as i have made quite a few customizations.

http://insight-design-group.com/CMSimpl ... ng_started

the menu highlight is not working as it did in the standard cmsimple 3.2.....
