wwwaut - should I or shouldn't I?

Post by kimptoc » Wed May 06, 2009 3:03 pm

Hi,

I have a couple of sites using cmsimple, but running from my PC at home. I have them using wwwaut, as I have full control over apache.

I want to move them onto a web hosting service, but having difficulties getting wwwaut working - problems with .htaccess setup - I get the right login prompts, but then it fails with "Error 401: Unauthorized".

I am wondering if its worth the effort fixing it - there are only a few users and they don't use any other sites.

So - my question is - what do people generally use - wwwaut or the security out of the box, specified in the config file?

Thanks in advance,
Chris

Yup, currently Gentoo, but probably going for Ubuntu next :)

Thanks,

Doh, I was also moving to the latest cmsimple code and did not read the manual correctly - seems like you don't need to use .htaccess now and probably best for the edit configuration to work properly :)
