Atrributes uploaded files

I hav got the following. I developed my site on domain x.nl . Now I've copied it to y.nl When I try to upload a picture or another file, the file name appears in the list if files/pictures. (uploading with the CMS editor) But the picture is not shown, there is a red X.

When I try to use the file or picture I get an error that the file is not there... When I check with my FTP uploader, the files are in the right directory /downloads or /images but the file attributes are wrong. The read flag for world and other is not there. When I set the read flag mannually everything works... I did not had this problem in domain x.nl .

Hosting of both domains is different. But what is wrong ?? looks like the user under which the application works cannot set the right attributes...
