I have to creat subfolders in the image-folder 'gallery' manually because the server does not give writing permissions (Chmod 777) automatically. The first time I tried this, everything went well. But now I created a subfolder 'Einschulung08' (Chmod 777 set) and get the message from the gallery-config:
"Gallery plugin Error : Creation of thumbs dir failed (gallery/Einschulung08/thumb)
Solution : Please check owner of folder gallery/Einschulung08/thumb (/data/www/web46/web/gallery/Einschulung08/thumb)
The owner seems to be [30] the script expects [10099], solve by deleting the folder gallery/Einschulung08/thumb and re-create it using your FTP account.
I tried that but it doesn't work. Anyone an idea why and how to solve this problem?

it seems you have the problem with SafeMode-Configuration, where the FTP-Owner is different from the actual user
that is a configuration which your hoster might solve

1. Create a folder "gallery" by ftp and chmod 0777
2. Let the plugin create all subfolders. If it fails, create the subfolders by ftp and chmod them to 0777.
In some cases it works with this version
