A slightly different template is required on different pages of the site. For example, you need a slider on the main page, but not on others. There are differences in filling news boxes. I am sure that this can be done, but so far I have not found how. Please direct my thought in the right direction.

The simplest way to define an optional template for a page is (here you can define a unique template for each page) The more advanced way is the plugin morepagedata. It needs a deeper study of the help file (very good explained) and also more coding in the template. But then basically you don't need any separate template. You can set whatever shall be displayed/hidden/replaced in your template (backgrounds, the content of newsboxes, etc.)
