Hi all,
I am wondering if it wouldn't be a good idea to include some sort of switch into the backend that allows the user to take the page offline and display a certain (user-defined) message to the visitor. I remember this function from Joomla and always considered it to be quite handy when playing around with content and/or layout.
Cheers,
Lars
P.S. I know you just finished XH1.0 and I don't expect that to happen soon, just wanted to leave the idea for some later build.

Re: Switch to put page into maintenance mode?
Hi Lars,
a long time ago, I've written a real simple Plugin for this job.
It's working fine, but I have plans to make some improvements:
- Template - System for the maintenance page
- prevent search engines of indexing the maintenance page by adding a HTTP 503 status code
- Some more config vars for the text output etc.
I think a v2.0 may be ready around X-mas / new year.
But the old version should work for you at the moment.

A help-file is included.
Feedback and suggestions are welcome!
Cheers,
Holger

Re: Switch to put page into maintenance mode?
Hi Holger,
how could I think that was not yet a solution for this?
Just gave it a try, seems to work great! For me, the option with the static HTML page is fine, but still I look forward to your improvements.
If you need some testing on them, just let me know.
Thanks,
Lars
