Hello
Having only dummy knowledge... I take the risk and ask:
Can anyone help with information on how to set-up a 'production server' using the latest Apache and PHP with CMSimple and all the nessesary security?
I can set-up local versions of many different layouts (Wamp, EasyPHP8 and Apache 2.2.8).
I also see a lot of 'Only for local use' and security warnings.
The reel problem is, no doubt 'The installation shall be on Windows (XP)' to get rid of 'cmod', which is sciense to 'dummies'.
(I'm aware that FileZilla is actaually able to handle folders incl. files).
The set-up should be able to have more domains/users.
Traffic is not yet an isue.
Where can I find something (easy) to read, set-up discription i order to have a http-server on Windows XP?
Hugo
My own http server
Re: My own http server
Dear Hugo,
i am not using XP, but unixalike OSses, notably Linux and Darwin. And on test installations on a windows machine i would first install cygwin
Therefor only this hint: the configuration file of apache is mostly OS independent (well, paths vary).
Are You aware of http://httpd.apache.org/docs/
and of
http://wiki.apache.org/httpd/
?
BTW: First i would set up a single site on the web server. Multiple sites require virtual hosts, and that is always the 2nd configuration step, when everything else works.

Re: My own http server
Thank you for your replayes.
Allthough unskilled pro (dummy only) I too think Win-sock's
But many 'simple' users come from Windows and I have the idea that content is a tiny bit more important as form.
I see many oppertunities in Unix and alike's, but believe most users have to start (width basics) from Windows. Therefore I want both enviroments (Unix-server I buy).
What is >cygwin <?
I can setup a single user (including PHP) with no security at the moment. Where can I read about the next step (full security)?
