Not found 404 attempting admin login

Post by jackyboy » Thu Jun 19, 2008 5:13 am

I'm on an Linux/Apache server. The cmsimple is in a subfolder called 'cmsimple'. I set all permissions as listed to 777.
Using cmsimple/admin/test or cmsimple/test , I get a Not Found 404. Suggestions?
Thanks
Jack

maybe there is no directory or file test?

btw.: 777 is a _very bad_ idea for the mask of files and directories...

Jack,

404 means that the page which you want is not existent

you called
cmsimple/admin/test
cmsimple/test
there is no cmsimple/admin and maybe you should write a page "test"

are you sure you are at the correct CMS-forum? Maybe CMSMadeSimple????

Greetings, Connie

I uploaded the program to my /cmsimple folder as instructed and below is what appears on the index.php when I go to mydomain/cmsimple. Below are the instructions I followed:
Welcome
CMSimple version 3.1 - April 2. 2008
© 1999-2008 Peter Andreas Harteg

Congratulations on your new installation of CMSimple.

You must keep a convenient and prominently visible feature that displays the CMSimple Legal Notices.

Please read and accept the CMSimple Legal Notices or delete this installation.

Default login is 'test' ('admin'/'test' if security type is wwwaut)
- remember to change login under settings.

Please read about File permissions and Security issues in the Installer's Manual.

Please visit www.cmsimple.com and consider purchasing a commercial licence for CMSimple, which may give you a lot of benefits compared to using CMSimple under AGPL. These benefits includes removal of copyleft conditions, change of Legal Notices requirement and access to support in user forum.

The left menu of the index.php is very simple and only shows this:

Welcome
How to create pages
How to delete a page
Sitemap
Print Version
Login

Hi jackyboy

In the left menu is login, click on this, you will be taken to the login page where you enter the password test
then you will come to the admin control panel :)

Once again I ask why you want to call
cmsimple/admin/test
or
cmsimple/test
these pages do not exist at all if you did not create them...
there is no /admin folder at all

as you were told, you use the login-link, log in, change password etc. in configuration and then you start to write pages
you will never need any folder /admin or /test ;=)

good luck!

OK, got it. Sorry, but the colors on my Mac show Login so dark, I didn't see it. Then I entered 'admin' and got the error. When I enter 'test' it works. Thanks, from this dummy to the smarter people :o]

I am glad it is working now for you

but please, when you encounter another problem, here or with other software, describe the situation precisely and correct!

You told us you wanted to call pages which did not exist, but the real problem was that you did not enter the correct password for login...

that would help a lot!

have a good day,

Connie
