IE8: FCKEditor link problem. Any solution?

Hi the experts!
A client of mine is using IE8. If you want to put a link with FCKEditor and open the link icon (internal or external), clicking OK in IE8 will not do anything. Looks like the programme is hanging (although the link is being set, when click on close. In Firefox however it works flawlessly.)

There may be some special IE setting which would allow correct funktioning ... any idea?

It seems this problem has already been mentioned in another thread, but I couldn't find a full discussion of it.

AFAIK everything works also in IE8. You only don't see any button. But clicking on any item in the list of internal pages/uploaded files, the link will be created. Check it.
BTW - IE is really not the best browser for work with websites. Easier and more comfortable is to assure your clielnt to install FF :-).

Hi svasti,

most IE8 problems are gone with FCKeditor V2.6.5. http://ckeditor.com/whatsnew/all?page=4

You may try to update the core files to this version or the latest 2.6.6. http://ckeditor.com/whatsnew/all?page=2 (scroll down).
But keep the configuration, the plugins and everything in /FCKeditor/editor/filemanager/

Maybe it's enough to apply the patch below
http://dev.ckeditor.com/attachment/tick ... 3249.patch
and remember to clear the browser-cache on every change.

Holger,
thank you
I upgraded CKEditor and the problem is gone.

@Tata: you are right, but now it's even better. And this client wants to keep on using IE.

IE9 looks promising. Hope Microsoft gets it right this time!
